MCS proceeds to develop liposome and polymer drug formulations including formulations for pulmonary, parenteral and topical applications. Some examples of given IP are below:
- MCS has developed a pulmonary formulation using the known antibiotic tobramycin.
Tobramycin was encapsulated in so-called ‘fluidosomes’,
liposomes consisting of a defined phospholipid composition (W. Greb et al.
Safety of Fluidosomes-tobramycin inhumans: a clinical phase I study. J. Aerosol Med. Pul. Drug Deliv., in press (2009)).
- MCS has also developed a proprietary phospholipid gel formulation for topical application.
Bisphosphonates (V. Hengst et al. Bone targeting potential of bisphosphonate- targeted liposomes. Preparation, characterization and hydroxyapatite
binding in vitro. Int. J. Pharmaceut. 331, 224-227, 2007) are being developed for future
parenteral applications.
- Ferrofluids are being developed for drug targetting and MRi contrast media.
